Sizing Instructions

The Windbender-HP comes in two different heights. And like all high performance equipment, to enjoy it and get the performance that you expect, it has to be sized and set up correctly.

1. With your motorcycle sitting in a parking lot, measure and place a marker from the front tire, 88’ out front.

2. Sitting on your motorcycle in your natural riding posture (with at least one foot down so you don’t tip over) look at the marker you placed 88’ in front of you. Place a piece of tape on your windshield so that while looking at the marker, it is sitting just on top of the tape. This may take a couple of try’s to get correct. (Here’s a tip, most of us tend to slouch a little after riding for awhile. Try to create as much of a true riding position as possible. Let the bike sit on its wheels, don’t use the side or center stand.)

3. Once the tape has been located on the windshield, stand in front of the motorcycle and using a tape measure, take a measurement from the rubber gasket at the bottom of the windshield to the top of the tape you placed on the windshield. This measurement is different from person to person, bike to bike and is used to choose which of the two windshields best fits you. Please refer to the chart below.

GL1500

Windbender-HP ---- 19" inches and taller

Windbender-HP-S --- 15" inches – 19" inches

GL1800

Windbender-HP ---- 17" inches and taller

Windbender-HP-S --- 13" inches – 17" inches

If your measurement is close to the low mark of the Windbender-HP and you’re unsure, we recommend moving to the Windbender-HP-S. This shorter windshield has quite a bit of adjustment up and will actually overlap the lower area covered by the Windbender-HP-T. The set up eventually will be fine tuned by you the rider, remember, this windshield is designed to be looked over, not through. The bigger problem would be not getting the windshield down low enough. There is about six inches of adjustment available to raise it.
