Windbender Windshields - Don't Push it... Bend it Windbender HP

Windbender Performance - High Performance

"It's like having an Invisible Windshield"

The Windbender HP is a high performance windshield that is the heart and driving force of our development. Not only did we want to eliminate the wind issue for the rider and co-rider, we wanted to be able to see over it like it wasn't even there. Due to the shape of this windshield, there is some distortion while looking through its upper edge, but, remember, we want to look over it.

The Windbender HP comes in two sizes for the GL1800 and two for the GL1500, For the GL1800 the 15" HP for riders over about 5' 10" and the 11" HP-S for riders shorter then about 5' 11". The sizes for the GL1500 are 17" and 14" for the HP and HP-S respectively. We ask you to read our sizing instructions below to determine the correct size for you. This is a good rule of thumb as even some riders 6' tall will like the view over the top of the HP-S. While we encourage you to get the right shield the first time, don't worry if it's not quite right; our exchange policy is superior!

The HP and HP-S are available in both clear and in a medium bronze tint. The bronze tint is not so dark that you can't see through it at night, but you'll be looking over it anyway, right? The HP-S is also available in a dark smoke tint that matches the Windbender base. The dark tint is for appearance only. You won't be able to see through it at night, but you'll be looking well over the top of it anyway; that is what it is designed for! GL1500 HP

HP Sizing Instructions

It is IMPORTANT that you can adjust the HP so that your eyeballs are 4 inches or more above the top of the shield. Eye-rattling buffeting can occur with the HP if it is too tall for you and you won't like looking through it - The recurve is not optically clear. You should choose the HP-S if the HP is not more then 4" BELOW your line-of-sight in its lowest position.

To find this position: Have a piece of tape in your hand and sit on your bike in your all-day slumped riding position (preferably on the side stand, or with both feet on the ground). Put that piece of tape on your windshield straight out from your eyeballs to mark your line-of-sight. Remove yourself from the bike and measure the distance along the front of your windshield from the top of the windshield garnish gasket to the mark you made for your line-of-sight. You should order an HP that is at least 4" shorter than that measurement.Six inches less than that measurement will give you even more capability to see well over the top of your shield.

Either Windbender HP windshield has about 6" to 12" of air lift above the top of the windshield (depending on your speed). We recommend adjusting the windshield so that when seated on the bike, you can see a point on the road no less than 88' out front while just seeing the top edge of the windshield. With this primary adjustment as center, you can move it down even more for riding those rolling curvy roads or raise it up for riding down the interstate. When adjusted for interstate riding, the wind will be moving over the top of the rider's helmet by a few inches. This is important to the co-rider, because of their elevated sitting position they are going to want the wind at least above the face opening in their helmet. For this windshield to work as well for the co-rider as the rider, they have to be somewhat matched. For example, if the rider is very short in the body, and the co-rider is very tall through the body, along with the added height in the passenger seat, it may place them high enough in the wind stream that they will get some wind in their face. Even though the buffeting will be reduced, the Windbender ST may be a better choice since it can be raised higher for the passenger and doesn't have the distortion to look through for the driver.

There is no reason to settle for second best. Don't push the wind when you can bend it! Windbender, high performance windshields by Firecreek.

If your solo riding style requires you to look over the shield and your two-up riding requires even greater wind protection, you may want to get our Windbender ST as a second top windshield (without the base). Slide one off and slide the other on. It takes only seconds and no tools are needed.

We want you to experience the benefits of the Windbender. If, during consulting with you, we suggest an HP or HP-S shield for you and it doesn't work well, we will gladly swap top shields with you for the price of shipping and the difference in price if you return your shield in "as-new" condition. Send it back to us dirty or scratched and there will be a $50 polishing fee. If you order a shield without consulting and want to exchange it, the same policy applies.

Our Exchange/Return Policy is second to none: Don't like the shield version you first bought? Send it back, pay the difference and we'll send you a larger shield for the price of shipping. If your shield is too large: send it back and we'll deduct the difference in price from the shipping on your replacement. All returns must be made in "AS NEW" condition or a $50 restocking/cleaning fee will apply. No refunds will be given for shields damaged beyond repair.

Trial Program: We are so sure you'll like your Windbender that we'll let you buy one, put it on your bike and take it for a few test rides to find your personal sweet spot. If you absolutely do not like it and want to return the whole kit, we only ask that you send it back to us as clean as we sent it to you. A full refund, less the appropriate fee, will be credited to your card. FEES: There will be a $50 resurfacing fee for all returned Windbender kits. We don't expect the base shield to be perfect - it will never be perfect after installation - that's what the resurfacing fee is for. WARNING: The wind protection can be so complete on the riders face and in some cases the co-rider, that a false sense of security can be experienced. Firecreek Accessories Inc. strongly recommends wearing eye protection at all times while riding. Even though small light bugs and light rain can be carried over the top in the wind stream, hard shelled bugs, full rain drops and rocks can penetrate the wind stream and get to the rider and co-rider.
